Hi everyone!
Publishing can be a bit of a funny business, and it can seem quite confusing from the outside looking in. Some projects go off without a single hitch and run smoothly from start to finish. Other projects decide that they would like to collect issues as if they are collecting Pokemon.
And you want to know the fun thing? You never know which project will behave itself, and which one will cause as much trouble as it possibly can.
Our special editions of The Incandescent by Emily Tesh and An Education in Malice by S.T Gibson both went so smoothly that we’ve actually been able to begin shipping both of them early! These are the kind of projects we love.
However, as many people will know, we've had some experience with delays, from printing issues, to resource limitations, feedback delays, and sometimes just because project timelines need to be adjusted. Unfortunately, some delays have hit our upcoming releases, so we wanted to share this update to let you all know what to expect.
Buckle in, as this is a newsletter with a LOT of updates and information as we want to be as transparent as possible and provide full explanations to what has happened. We'll be providing an update on all our outstanding projects, regardless of whether or not they're facing any delays!
Botanical Horror Special Edition Set by C.G Drews
Hold on! No, this isn’t a major delay so please put down your weapons, pens, pencils, plants, and blood rubies. The Botanical Horror Special Edition Set is still due to be delivered in July from our printers but we have to be realistic regarding how long it will take us to quality check all of the books, and we don’t yet have the precise date for delivery so aren’t able to provide an accurate timeline.
So, we have a brief timeline and update to share with you all.
Once the books arrive at our warehouse, the team is aiming to quality check all our numbered and signed sets first and get those packed and dispatched. After this is done, we’ll have a better understanding of how much overstock is available which will allow us to offer upgrades to those who had purchased the unsigned sets.
The team will then focus on quality checking the unsigned sets, and will pack and dispatch them as soon as possible. As we’ve already mentioned, we don’t yet have an exact date for when we will receive the sets, and therefore we don’t want to promise that all the special edition sets will be dispatched in July. For all we know, the delivery could happen on the 29th of July, leaving us with hardly any time to do a quality check!
To manage expectations, we’re aiming to quality check, pack, and dispatch all Botanical Horror Sets by the end of August. Once the sets arrive in our warehouse, Meg will be sending out an address check email for you all, as well as asking if you’d like any other additions to your order to help save on postage, and we’ll provide you all with a more accurate shipping timeline then.
A Market of Dreams and Destiny by Trip Galey
Originally the plan had always been for our edition of A Market of Dreams and Destiny by Trip Galey to be dispatched at the beginning of July. Unfortunately though, we hit a bump in the road as a couple of the art files corrupted, which caused a delay in our book going to print.
The good news is that the art files that had corruption issues have been recovered, and the books are due to print in July with delivery in August!
We’re a small team of seven, and August already looks like it will be a busy time for us due to other deliveries occurring, but we’re aiming to have the whole team come to the warehouse to help out. Once we receive the books, we’ll be quality checking as quick as we can and we hope to have all orders dispatched by the end of August.
As with all our special editions, as soon as we have the books, Meg will be doing address checks and seeing if we can help combine shipping for other items or books to save on shipping costs.
An Arcane Inheritance by Kamilah Cole
Originally due to begin shipping at the end of June/start of July, An Arcane Inheritance has unfortunately been hit with a few minor issues. For this edition we worked with a new printer and this has caused some delays as everything needed to be set up from scratch, resulting in our printing slot being pushed back, with delivery now looking to be in August - we told you all it was going to be a busy month!
We haven’t received the confirmed delivery date yet, but as always we’ll keep you all updated and once we have the books in hand, you’ll be sure to see them spammed on our socials for you all! Meg will, can you guess it, then email you all with address checks and a chance to add additional items to your orders, and once the team has finished quality checking we’ll be dispatching everyone’s books as soon as physically possible!
Immortal Game by Allison Saft
You’ll be pleased to know that Immortal Game seems to be on track for its original delivery date and quality checking plan which have been scheduled for August, but there may be a small delay to our quality checking plans due to two of the previously listed books being pushed back and interrupting our warehouse schedule.
However, once Immortal Game arrives in our warehouse, we’ll be quality checking, packing, and dispatching as quick as we can!
Vicious Reprint, Vengeful Signed, and Vengeful Reprint by V.E. Schwab
We originally planned to release these editions in September 2026, and everything is on track! We revealed all of the artwork for Vengeful earlier this week, so be sure to go and check that out if you missed it!
We’re just awaiting a delivery date which will likely be some time in August, and once we have this we’ll be able to provide an accurate timeline for quality checking, packing, and dispatching.
Scorpion Deep by CG Drews
Scorpion Deep may just be our golden child - the artwork is complete, files have been sent to the publisher to be finalised, our printing slot is confirmed, and now we await the delivery date to our warehouse, ready for quality checking, packing, and dispatching to begin! This edition is still on track for November dispatch.
Tomes and Tea Special Edition Set by Rebecca Thorne
This set is more or less another golden child! The artwork is being finalised ready for submission, our printing slot is confirmed, and we’re just waiting for our delivery date to be confirmed ahead of… well you know the rest.
The only issue we’ve run into is the interest in the hardback sets far outpacing that of the paperback sets, which unfortunately has meant that producing the paperback sets simply is not financially viable. We’ve already contacted everyone impacted with a solution though, and all orders of hardback sets are entirely unimpacted!
Artemis Fowl Legacy Edition Set by Eoin Colfer
Now, you may notice that there is one special edition set that we’ve not shared an update about and well… every story has to have a troublesome child, right? One that causes the most issues no matter the amount of planning or communication involved.
Well, Artemis Fowl has encountered a few issues - I suspect the fiendish Opal is involved - and this has meant that there will be a significant delay in finalising the art files for print resulting in our printing slot being moved. Unfortunately, due to the size of the order, the first slot that the printers are able to accommodate for us is in November, with delivery just before Christmas, meaning that, due to team availability, this set now won’t be able to be dispatched until January 2027.
We can only apologise for this, and we have already begun planning for additional content to be bound into the first book and are hoping to develop a few merchandise products that we’ll be sending out to all those who had pre-ordered this set to apologise for the delay.
However, it also means that we’re able to begin planning and working on the second Artemis Fowl set featuring books five to eight, meaning that we should be able to open pre-orders and deliver the books in 2027.
Of course, if you have any questions about this, please feel free to email us at help@litpinsandco.com and we’ll be happy to answer any questions. If you’d like to cancel your order for a refund instead, we’ll also be able to assist with this via email.
We hope you now feel fully informed and prepared for the next few months with us - it’s gearing up to be an exciting rest of the year!
Love from the LitPins&Co team 💛
