THE STORY BEHIND LITPINS&CO

Have you ever read a book, fallen in love with the story and characters, and then made it your mission to tell other bookworms about it?

Well, that’s how LitPins&Co started!

LitPins&Co is a small bookish business, made for readers, by readers. We create beautiful special edition books and merchandise for book lovers everywhere, so you can show off your favourite books – and get others reading them too!

OUR FOUNDER & art director

Meet Jamie, the bookworm behind LitPins&Co! As a lifelong lover of both reading and art, Jamie discovered the magic of combining the two while studying Illustration and Graphic Design at university. She then began a career as a bookseller and spent her days chatting with book lovers and diving into fictional worlds.

But it wasn’t until Vicious by V.E. Schwab graced her bookshelf that Jamie sketched the design for her first enamel pin – the Victor Vale Was Not a F***ing Sidekick Pin. This was the first of many bookish designs and Jamie now spends her days turning her love for books and skills as an illustrator into beautiful enamel pins and unique merchandise that bring your favourite books to life.

All About Jamie:
  • Jamie is a cat mom to two troublesome tabbies - Katniss Everpurr and Haymitch Apurrnathy and a guinea pea called Chewie.
  • When not working on LitPins, Jamie can often be spotted on walks while reading on her phone or playing video games. Her favourite games include BG3, Hollow Knight, Hades and Expedition 33.
  • A self-certified Disney Kid, Jamie is obsessed with Stitch from Lilo & Stitch - seriously if you spot a wild Jamie out and about ask to see her Stitch Tattoos!

THE LITPINS&CO TEAM

Roshni

Warehouse and Events Manager

All About Roshni:

  • Known as a Rosh-of-all-trades or Rent-A-Roshni to our friends at cons and events, Roshni is our key multi-tasker keeping our warehouse operational and orders going out fast.
  • When not working at LitPins, Roshni is learning and developing new crafting skills, from sewing to watercolour, photography to candle making to modding old game consoles - she really does try to do it all!
  • Although Roshni doesn't have any pets, she often jokes that her garden and roses are close enough!

HANNAH

Operations and Customer Care Manager

All About Hannah:

  • Outside of working at LitPins, Hannah can always be found with a pile of books, a never-ending to-do list, a blanket and a cup of tea near by.
  • Probably the most eclectic reader at LitPins, Hannah reads across every genre and will always have at least five books on the go.
  • Joining Hannah at team LitPins are her two Jack Russell Terriers who regularly cause chaos during meetings, Oscar and Rusty!

Meg

Social Media and Marketing Manager

All About Meg:

  • When Meg is not working at LitPins or reading in her free time, she can be found at concerts, bouldering, journaling, recommending books over on BookTok or gaming. Her special talent is getting into gigs at the last minute!
  • Meg loves all things Fantasy and Sci-Fi and bonus points if it's sapphic - the Locked Tomb series is a firm favourite.
  • Meg is often accompanied by her two silly cats, Cookie and Cleo.

Buttercup

In-House Artist and Warehouse Assistant

All About Buttercup:

  • Buttercup is an avid reader of romance and fantasy. They especially love graphic novels and fan fiction too.
  • When Buttercup is not drawing or reading in bed, they can often be found smiling at pigeons, petting cats, playing video games, shipping fictional characters and trying to not kill their houseplants.
  • Buttercup is also a pet parent to a playful cat called Pebble.

Elizabeth

Production and Design Assistant

All About Elizabeth:

  • Has an awesome cat called Clive - we love Clive.

Ruben

Research and Creative Assistant

All About Ruben:

  • Self proclaimed fastest reader at LitPins&Co. When he’s not devouring books and making notes for the team at a rate of knots, Roo can be found drawing, cosplaying, streaming over on Twitch, playing video games like Splatoon and Bioshock, and causing general mischief.
  • They're a single parent to two naughty girls - his beautiful cats, Dilly and Deedee.
  • Roo is transmasc non-binary (he/they pronouns) and queer, so naturally their favourite genres are queer horror, and books where boys like him get to kiss other boys.

THE LITPINS&CO GRADING SYSTEM

No enamel pin is completely perfect due to the nature of the manufacturing process. That’s why we hand-grade each pin to make sure it meets our high standards and your expectations.

While grading can be subjective and may vary by artist or creator, here’s what you can generally expect when purchasing an enamel pin from LitPins&Co

Grade A

"A grade" pins represent the highest quality from a batch and appear as intended. These pins may have minor imperfections that are only visible upon close inspection under bright light.

Common A grade blemishes include:

  • Slight enamel under-fill, not easily noticeable
  • Subtle imperfections in metal plating
  • Light scuffs or surface scratches on the enamel or metal
  • Small, single nicks on the enamel or metal
  • Minor dust particles mixed into the glitter or enamel
  • Slight offset in screen printing

Ideal for displaying on bookshelves, pin banners, or any indoor space. While A grade pins are in excellent condition and suitable for outdoor wear, we recommend using a protected space – like an ITA bag – when worn outside to minimise the risk of wear and damage.

Grade B

"B grade" pins have visible flaws that can be noticed in normal lighting. The severity of these blemishes can vary, with some being more pronounced than others. Despite this, B grade pins remain great for display if a collector is okay with minor imperfections and are a more affordable option for wearing.

Common B grade flaws include:

  • Moderately scuffed enamel or metal
  • Multiple imperfections in the metal plating
  • Several air bubbles in the enamel
  • Small portions of missing enamel
  • Overfilled enamel that covers some metal lines
  • Excess glitter in unintended areas
  • Small gouges or marks in the enamel

While a B grade pin may not be as pristine as an A grade, it is still highly wearable and can be a great addition to any collection!

Grade C

"C grade" pins have multiple obvious defects that are immediately noticeable from arm's length under normal lighting. These flaws may make them less ideal for display, but they remain wearable and are the most affordable option for this purpose.

Common C grade defects include:

  • Large, noticeable areas of scuffing
  • Deep gouges or scratches in the enamel
  • Large or multiple areas of under-filled enamel
  • Multiple imperfections in the metal plating
  • Numerous air bubbles in the enamel
  • Noticeable off-set or missing screen printing
  • Multiple missing metal lines
  • Areas of enamel staining or discolouration
  • Large or multiple areas where enamel is missing

While C grade pins are less common, they can still be a fun addition to a collection for those who are a little less precious about their pins!

Raised

At LitPins&Co, we’re all about giving back. That’s why we partner with charities close to our hearts and donate a percentage of our profits to important causes.
We also ask the authors we work with to choose a charity that is important to them, so that we can donate a percentage of profits from our special editions to their chosen charity.

So far, we’ve raised money for initiatives such as LGBTQIA+ education, mental health awareness, stray cat rescue, improving access to books, and so much more! We can’t wait to support even more charities in the future.

PINS WITH A PURPOSE

We care about our planet and are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint. All of our packaging is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.
